What is AI ?

AI, or Artificial Intelligence, is a field of computer science that aims to create machines and systems that can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence. In other words, AI is the simulation of human intelligence in machines, allowing them to perceive, reason, learn from experience, and make decisions based on that learning.
There are different levels of AI, ranging from narrow or weak AI to general or strong AI:

Weak AI :

Examples include virtual personal assistants like Siri or Alexa, recommendation systems on streaming platforms, and language translation services. Narrow AI is limited in scope and cannot perform tasks outside of its predefined domain.

General or Strong AI :

This level of AI would possess human-like intelligence, being capable of understanding, learning, and performing any intellectual task that a human can do. Strong AI remains theoretical and does not yet exist, as it requires advancements beyond what we have achieved in AI technology to date.
AI systems employ various techniques and approaches, including machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, robotics, and knowledge representation, among others. Machine learning, in particular, has been a significant driver of recent AI progress, enabling systems to learn from data without explicit programming.
AI has found applications in numerous fields, such as healthcare, finance, transportation, education, gaming, and more. It continues to have a transformative impact on society, offering opportunities for automation, enhanced decision-making, and improved efficiency. However, it also raises ethical, social, and economic considerations, such as job displacement and the responsible use of AI technologies.
